Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup whole milk, warmed
- 3 large eggs
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm milk and eggs, mixing until combined.
2️⃣ Incorporate Butter: Add softened butter, one piece at a time, kneading until dough is smooth and elastic.
3️⃣ Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution.
4️⃣ First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1.5-2 hours until doubled in size.
5️⃣ Shape & Braid: Divide dough into three equal portions, roll into ropes, and braid together. Transfer to a greased loaf pan.
6️⃣ Second Rise: Cover and let rise for another hour until puffy.
7️⃣ Egg Wash & Bake: Brush with egg wash. Bake at 400°F for 10 min, then lower to 350°F for 35-40 min until golden brown.
8️⃣ Cool & Serve: Let cool before slicing. Enjoy warm or toasted!
